My story

Dog Name: Buster. Breed: Pit mix. Sex: Male. Age: 3 years old. Weight: 48lbs. Medical Needs: Buster is currently on trazodone for his crate anxiety and it works wonders for him. Housebroken: Yes. He will go to the door. If you’re not paying attention he will go back and forth between you and the door until you pick up what he’s throwing down. Crate trained: He is trained to go in and will get a treat but it is not his favorite place. He is given trazodone an hour and a half before he goes in to help with his anxiety. Once the traz has kicked in, he’s good. Crate life without the meds consists of him panting, pacing, biting at the bars and whining to let you know of his displeasure. He does get treats while in there also: stuffed and frozen kongs, chew treats or his popsicle filled with a calming pop. He loves them and they give him great mental stimulation while in there. In order to keep him safely contained, he is currently utilizing an industrial crate. It is recommended this continues in adoptive home. Good in the car: Yes, he does sometimes wanna help you drive so a seatbelt helps with that. For the most part, he just lays down and relaxes. Good on a leash: Yes he is and he loves to go for short walks! Energy level: Nothing crazy. I’d say, low energy. He does enjoy hopping around but he’s also content lounging around on the couch. Need a fenced in yard: Not needed but he’d love to be able to free roam in the yard. He likes to serve and protect his yard - always on yard patrol. Dog Friendly: Yes, he is fostered with multiple dogs and loves them all. He thinks everyone is his bff. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Not needed. Cat Friendly: Unknown. Kid Friendly: Yes. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any with proper supervision. He is a tripod so old enough to not accidentally hurt his good back leg. He’s new to the tripod world, so he has his clumsy moments. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Buster is the cutest little tripod moo cow around. Who can resist those cuuuuute ears and those spots?! He is not only adorable but he’s super sweet and has such a fun personality. If you follow the GRR foster chronicles page you know all about his shenanigans. Before arriving to Delaware his life wasn’t all that great - his jaw and back leg had been broken. He previously had surgery to fix both but it just didn’t work out for his back leg, his jaw is all healed up, thankfully. So he had his back leg amputated in April but don’t you worry he gets around just fine. Prior to the amputation he tried not to put any weight on that leg anyways. This happy little fella doesn’t let anything bring him down. He really has been enjoying the good life these days. Some of his favorite past times are being on yard patrol (no fun on his watch unless he’s invited ), giving his stuffies the biz, playing ball or frisbee, lounging around the house and being near his people. He likes to snuggle up on the couch and demand loving as well. He is not afraid to plop right on top of you. He does occasionally have puppy tendencies and tries to use you as a chew toy but that’s easily redirected with a “no” and a toy. Buster enjoys all the treats & his meal times and if you do not get him his meals as quickly as he would like he will hit you with the rolling bark as if to say hurry up! Buster is such a goofy boy and he is such a happy little cow. When he hears another dog on the tv he runs up to it and has the cutest little head tilts back and forth. He always has to make sure everyone is okay. Buster has settled in nicely at his foster families house and it’s now time for him to take that next big step and find his fur-ever family. If you think you can handle all his shenanigans & give him the best life that he very much so deserves - fill out an app today! Fosters Location: New Castle, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app) ##2351495##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Buster, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
