Name: Dana Best Guess for Breed: Scruffy terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of June 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 29.4 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! Dana gets along with the cat in her foster home but we always recommend slow introductions. We haven't seen her with kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area boarding partner Check out this video of Dana: https://youtube.com/shorts/N0Dpyy8kvxk. Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are committed to helping them acclimate to a completely new environment. Giving Dana opportunities to interact with other dogs here (doggie playdates, welcoming resident dog in the home, doggie daycare, etc.) will help her so much - they will show her the ropes! About Dana: Dana is a 2-year-old bundle of joy who’s equal parts energy and cuddle bug. Rescued from a hoarding situation in Puerto Rico after raising 11 puppies, this sweet girl has embraced her second chance at life with pure enthusiasm. Dana loves her humans and thrives on affection. She’s the perfect balance of active and relaxed: she is a steady jogging partner, she’s up for a good walk or hike, but also happy to chill at your feet, snoozing or playing with toys, while you telework. Her favorite pastime? Pulling every toy out of the box and playing with them one by one—she takes her fun seriously! When the zoomies strike, expect a hilarious, full-speed “bull in a China shop” routine that will make you laugh every time. Dana has habit of using her mouth like a hand—gently holding her favorite person’s hand in her mouth. She’s soft and gentle about it, but it’s part of her unique, goofy personality. Dana was nervous when she first arrived at her foster, but quickly blossomed into a total cuddle bug that's confident exploring the world around her. Dana wasn’t always treated nicely and gets scared if spoken to harshly. Gentle corrections are best and are all that’s needed because she’s very eager to please. She’s also very food-motivated and quickly learned ‘sit’ and ‘lay down.’ Her foster says she’s been a model house guest — no accidents in weeks, no inappropriate chewing, and she sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate. She even puts herself to bed – heading to her crate around 9pm each night even if the rest of the family is still awake. Dana coexists peacefully with other dogs but prefers people as her primary pack. She’s also shown great manners around cats, choosing to politely ignore them. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate dog who will bring laughter, cuddles, and a little joyful chaos to your home, Dana just might be your perfect match. Interested in meeting Dana? WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Dana doesn't put her best foot forward at adoption events because she gets distracted by all the activity. But at home she's a sweet, exuberant, happy girl that follows me all around the house and just wants to be loved. Dana has been one of our easiest fosters - she loves her crate and treats it like her safe space; hasn't had an accident in weeks; no problem chewing; good on the leash; only barks when someone comes home or to the door, etc. Just a heckin good girl all around! She might've had a rough start but she's quickly embraced the finer things in life. She loves playing with a variety of dog toys. Her favorite bed is the fluffy, round donut shown in the picture. She has never met a treat she doesn't like and meal times are her favorite times of day! In foster, she's been eating Purina Pro Plan and likes to have different wet foods mixed in because variety is the spice of life! Dana is pure love & devotion wrapped in a scruffy wiggle. She deserves a home where she will be loved, adored and able to join in on her family's adventures & outings. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
