My story

Meet Elphie! 9-year-old Elphie’s owner moved out and left her and her brother behind tied to a fence. The landlord discovered them, but unfortunately, her brother ran away. Elphie was taken to San Bernardino City Animal Control in May with no name or history, kenneled with two other large stray dogs. They somehow all survived the tension of visitors walking by their kennel daily and being tossed three bowls of kibbles to share for meals. Shocking really that Elphie persevered, where kennel stress is high and disease runs rampant in overcrowded shelters. In early June, Elphie started showing signs of an upper respiratory infection (URI). Despite being treated with antibiotics, her URI worsened. On June 16th, we made sweet Elphie a Frosted Face. Our on-site veterinarian saw her right away and diagnosed her with pneumonia. Thankfully, Elphie is still eating and has good energy! To be safe, she is quarantined, so none of our other dogs will be exposed. We hope Elphie will be well enough to be placed soon -- she deserves it! Stay tuned for updates!
