She is good with dogs, good with cats, crate trained and potty trained - this little lady is the full package! After being born out in the woods in rural Texas, she can't wait for a forever home in Colorado with a patient family. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Aster is sweet, curious, a bit timid, and loving. She is happy to play with other dogs, but might take a few minutes to warm up as she is still adjusting to the big world around her! As she has adapted to her foster family, she has melted and is SUCH a love when her walls are down! She is still a bit skiddish and doesn't love being approached or touched, but will tolerate it and is comfortable in time. Story | Aster and her sister Honey were found off of a rural county road with their mama in Grapeland, Texas. Mama had been dumped and had given birth, somehow surviving off of food and kindness supplied by the community with these two little loves. At around 3 months of age, local good samiaritans trapped the girls and brought them home to show them the good life. Both girls have slowly acclimated to living in a home with dogs and cats, and have been so lucky to grow and adjust to getting love and affection by their wonderful fosters! Now it's time for make their biggest trek yet - to find their forever families in Colorado! Both still have rural dog tendencies - they are a bit prey driven (hello squirrel chaser!) and are a bit fearful of touch and fast movements.Other Dogs | Both girls are great with other dogs and are playful but respectful of them in their foster home. Both girls could use a steady and confident companion dog in their forever homes! Aster THRIVES with a dog to follow the lead from and play with, and panics when alone/asked to engage in a walk (or any activity) without her emotional support foster siblings. She does well with her foster brothers (a big black lab and little old chihuahua) and with her foster sister (a sassy and bosy little dog). She loves to play but also follows their leads. Cats | Both girls are cat tested and cat approved! They do well with the kitties in their foster home. Children | Aster's fosters think she would do great with older kiddos and teens, but probably isn't suitable for a home with young kiddos currently. She gets scared easily, so older children who can read her body language may be best! She might have a hard time decompressing in a new home if small kiddos were chasing her around and trying to pet her when she wants space. She is still somewhat avoidant of touch from her current foster family. She has been very gentle so far and will tolerate being picked up when needed. Her foster mom wants to make sure she remains a sweet, and gentle girl by not putting her in a stressful environment too soon, so any adopters with small children need to be diligent about making sure they give her plenty of space while she settles in and don't try to touch her too soon. Training | Honey and Aster are crate trained, and good with other animals! They haven't learned basic commands yet but are food motivated and sweet. Leash | It's a work in progress! Both girls are a bit timid, so leash walking will take time!Activity Level | Moderate - your typical active puppies!Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $525. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.June 30, 2025, 2:54 am
