Carly

My story

Carly is a 3-year-old, 50-pound gem of a dog with a heart full of sweetness and curiosity. She’s affectionate and enjoys sitting beside people, soaking up gentle pets and giving kisses in return. Carly knows how to sit when shown an upheld finger, and she takes treats with the softest touch. She loves to sniff and explore her surroundings and finds simple joy in rolling around in wet grass. One of Carly’s most endearing physical qualities is her enormous overbite—it gives her an irresistibly quirky look that only adds to her charm. Out on walks, Carly is a pleasant companion. She walks well on a leash with just a bit of excited pulling when something grabs her attention. She isn’t too interested in soft toys or balls, preferring instead to enjoy the world around her and the people in it. Carly greets strangers kindly and is curious, even friendly, around other dogs. In the car, Carly is a dream—she hops in on her own and settles down calmly, even catching a nap on longer rides. While she wasn’t thrilled about getting into the tub for a bath, she handled it just fine once she was in. She’s also wonderful in public spaces; during a lunch outing, she sat or lay quietly under the table like a pro. With her sweet personality, good manners, love for adventure, and unforgettable smile, Carly is ready to be someone’s best friend. She’s the perfect mix of calm, curious, and cuddly. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
