My story

Hi, I’m Kai, a 2-year-old woolly Siberian Husky with piercing blue eyes and a heart as soft as my fur. I weigh just 42 pounds, so I’m on the smaller side for a husky, but my soul is big and full of love waiting to blossom. Life hasn’t always been kind to me. I carry scars from my past, not just on my body but in my heart, too. Because of that, I’m shy, the quiet type who might flinch if you move too fast or reach out too quickly. But please know this: I’m not aggressive. I’m just learning how to feel safe. With patience, kindness, and a gentle heart, I will slowly come out of my shell. I may not know many commands yet, but I’m trying, and I’m smart. I’m mostly housebroken, and while I still have an accident now and then, I’m improving every day. Crates aren’t really my favorite, but I’ll do better in a large one. I’ve even figured out how to escape a few times (told you I was clever!). Now, let me tell you what I do love: walks. I’m a superstar on the leash, no pulling, no nonsense. I walk right by your side like a pro, and when we’re done, I like to soak up the sun by your feet. I’m so chill that my foster parents take me to work with them almost every day, and I just snooze peacefully at their side. I’m still learning what toys are for, but I do know how to play with other dogs! I absolutely love being around them — they help me feel more confident. I’m also great with kids and teens. Adults take me a little more time, but I’ll get there. I haven’t met any cats yet, but I do get excited when I see bunnies outside… so a cat-free home might be best. Food? Yes please. I’m not picky, and I’m polite, I’d rather you set my treat on the floor than put it in my hand. I'm quiet for a husky, too. I might let out a soft howl if my doggy friends start a chorus, or make some sleepy sounds while I nap, but mostly, I keep things peaceful. I’m looking for a home with other dogs who can be my buddies and a human (or two) who’ll give me the time and grace I need to trust again. I don’t need perfection, just love, patience, and a soft place to land. If you think we might be a match, I’m ready when you are. 💙 Love, Kai
