My story

Lucky is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match! Lucky is a fun and energetic young dog who is in need of a permanent home. Lucky's foster family took him in from a friend of a friend who was no longer able to care for him. They love Lucky, and wanted to give him some stability, and to help him find his forever home. That is when they contacted us- and we are so glad that they did! We are happy to help Lucky open this new chapter and whoever ends up with this gem is certainly the lucky one! Since Lucky has been living in a foster home, we know quite a bit about him. Lucky loves all people, all dogs (and lives with one!), and even gets along with the two resident cats. Lucky is housebroken, and does well being left to free roam vs in his crate, which he is not a fan of, but he has not been left alone for long stretches of time. He is great at enrichment and puzzle games- he is a super smart boy! Lucky is still a young pup, so he is still learning boundaries with people. With dogs, he adjusts his energy accordingly to suit their play style but is still learning to be calm with his people when he is excited! He may jump up or get slightly mouthy, so someone able to work on training and structure will be very beneficial especially given how smart and eager to please he is. Lucky would thrive in a multi-dog household, or in a home that would take him to daycare- he loves to socialize with his own kind. He also loves to cuddle up to his people for a good couch snooze. He’s incredibly smart and picks up new skills quickly, making him both fun and easy to train. Lucky enjoys staying active and loves going on walks and exploring the outdoors. He has a fun, energetic side and enjoys a good play session, but he also knows how to settle down and relax at home. He’s deeply affectionate and loves to follow his people from room to room, always wanting to be part of the family. After a day of activity, he’s quick to curl up for snuggles and shower you with kisses. Lucky does great with other dogs, peacefully ignores cats, and is perfectly content free-roaming in the home. This animal is spayed/neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
