My story

Meet Sally! She is a ten-year-old rat terrier that is super cuddly and social. She can seem a bit reserved and hesitant at first, but opens right up with love and cuddles. She knows her name and has lived with other dogs, too! She spent most of her life outdoors in a fenced yard and outdoor kennel, so she isn't house-trained, but she is obedient. We're sure with patience and training, she will learn where to do his business. She was brought in with her son, Zero, if you were interested in a pair of dogs (they can be adopted separately). We are confident she will do well in almost any environment as long as you have enough patience and love for her. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
