My story

Toby the tabby cat is a sweet yet sensitive senior gentleman looking for a loving home. He takes a minute to warm up to new people and can come off as spicy initially. But don’t let that “hardshell” exterior fool you! He is a softy on the inside who thrives on patience and affection! One of our staff had this to say about Toby, “I went to meet Toby today prior to writing his adoption bio. Toby greeted me at the front of his kennel. He sniffed my fingers and allowed gentle head and cheek scratches. Toby then purred a bit and booped his nose on mine. What a sweety (when you aren`t poking and prodding him, haha). I am absolutely smitten!”. Toby may do best in a home with adults and/or mature, respectful children able to read his body language and adhere to his boundaries. One thing you should know about Toby is that he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism during his time at the shelter. This condition will require life-long monitoring of Toby’s thyroid levels and treatment in the form of medication at the guidance of their veterinarian. Toby was treated for an ear infection at the shelter. He was found to have an ear polyp and is not currently experiencing any symptoms from the polyp. Adopters should consult with their vet if ear infections recur or he experiences any symptoms related to the polyp. Do you have room in your heart and home for this senior kitty? Come adopt meet and adopt sweet Toby, today! If you`d like to meet our available pets, please check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Toby, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
