My story

Meet Copper! 🧡 Copper is a classic Beagle through and through—around 1 to 2 years old, full of charm, and powered by his nose. He came to us as a stray, so we don’t know much about his past, but his personality tells you everything you need to know: he’s friendly, curious, and very food-motivated. Copper is great with other dogs—he loves to romp and play, but he’s also respectful of their space. He’s met a few cats during his time here and hasn’t seemed to mind them at all. He’s a social guy all around, always happy to say hello to just about anyone he meets, whether they have two legs or four. Like any good Beagle, his nose is constantly in detective mode. He’s not just good at finding snacks—he’s exceptional. If there’s a food wrapper anywhere in your house, Copper will find it. He has a remarkable talent for sniffing out forgotten lunchboxes, treat stashes, and anything that might have once contained a crumb. You’ve been warned! He’s got the classic Beagle bay, too—not too loud, but definitely full of character. He’ll let you know when he’s excited or when something interesting is happening (usually involving smells). It seems likely Copper lived outdoors before he came to us, but he’s adjusting quickly to indoor life. He’s still working on things like leash manners and house training, but he’s smart, food-motivated, and eager to please—which is a recipe for success. Copper would thrive in a home with a secure yard, other dog friends to pal around with, or a family who can give him the structure and love he’s been missing. He’d make a wonderful walking buddy, backyard explorer, or even a couch co-pilot (once he’s had a good sniff around the room). He may not have had the easiest start, but Copper is more than ready to be someone’s loyal, loving, slightly nosy best friend. Could that someone be you?
