My story

Meet Tommy! He is our super smart, crate trained, gentle giant, work from home buddy who is looking for his forever parents! He has this sweet, gentle demeanor and appreciates the assurance that it’s okay to be loved. He is such a great dog and I am excited to tell you more about him! We believe Tommy is a shepherd mix of some sort who is around 3 years old and weighs approximately 57 pounds. Due to him being a rescue, age and breed cannot be guaranteed. She loves how he is her quiet shadow, always in the background but never trying to interrupt her. He stays with her in her office during the work day and is the perfect gentleman. She says he is a great vet patient and always offers his arm for blood draws without any hesitation! It's great to know that vet visits won’t be a headache with this guy! He enjoys playing in the yard but doesn’t require too much exercise! A leisurely stroll will suffice for this guy! His demeanor makes him totally eligible to thrive in a home setting or an apartment setting! What a catch! Tommy is also so gentle around cats, dogs, and kiddos! He is currently fostered in a home with another dog and loves it! They will play together or lounge around depending on the mood of the moment! When he spent time with us, he had fun sniffing around the yard with some of our medium energy dogs and even entertained our high energy ones with a game of chase! He would do well in a home with another medium energy dog that enjoys resting and playing equally. He also had no issues around our house kitty! He just sniffed him and left him alone. We believe he would do well in a home with a dog savvy kitty that didn’t mind the occasional puppy sniff or two. He was also very receptive to the affection given by Blaze and Xen (9). They are dog savvy kiddos who understand that gentle guys like Tommy need to be treated with extra soft touches and affirmations. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there!
