Tandy is a 7 month old pup that has a cerebral dysfunction that affects his muscles and nervous system. He is currently taking medication in hopes of stabilizing his disease, but there is no cure and he requires supportive care to help him live as comfortably and happily as possible. Because of this, Tandy is not like other dogs, and that’s what makes him so special. While he is not paralyzed, he cannot walk on his own. He is unable to use his back legs, and his front legs have limited strength and coordination, often buckling when he tries to move. He relies on his people for everything, from being rotated throughout the day and night, to being carried outside and supported while he goes potty. (Don’t worry, he’ll let you know when he needs to go!) Tandy uses a four-wheel wheelchair for short sessions each day to keep his body moving, and he’s doing physical and swim therapy to maintain his strength as much as possible. He also experiences myoclonic episodes (brief, involuntary muscle movements), and his head has a noticeable bobble. Despite these challenges, Tandy is full of life and love. He loves other dogs and squeaky toys, but his favorite is the Wobble Wag Giggle ball. He loves laying next to you, ideally with his head resting on you, and just being close. Tandy needs a very special home with someone who is home most of the time, patient and attentive to his needs, and physically able to lift, carry, and support a 60-pound dog. We don’t know how much time Tandy has, but we do know he deserves to spend it being deeply loved and living life to the fullest in his own way. It will take an extraordinary adopter to be Tandy’s forever family, someone who sees beyond his limitations and celebrates his incredible spirit. We’re in no rush. If that perfect home never comes, his foster family is honored to love him for the rest of his days. Applications can be filled out at www.piedmontanimalrescue.com/adopt! Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet does NOT send us Applications. We receive many applications and many never respond after processing GREATLY delaying the pets forever home. Please only apply if you are serious about adopting. Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you. The first step to adopting is to fill out an application for adoption. Once approved we will arrange a time for you to meet the animal you are interested in. If it is a match the adoption can then be completed and you can take home your new furry family member. If it is not a match we will file your approved application and you can wait till you find the perfect match. ##2281861##
