My story

🖤 One-eyed, low-drama, high-snuggle senior If you’ve been searching for a mellow gentleman who’s 50% fluff, 50% nap, and 100% heart? Say hello to Buck-O — a blind, easygoing old soul who’s quietly excellent at being the best part of your day. Buck-O recently had an eye removed, and while most of us would complain endlessly, he handled recovery with the grace of a retired therapy dog in a cone. No whining, no chaos—just calm vibes, soft sighs, and politely choosing the comfiest bed in the house (he tested all of them, just to be sure). He’s not exactly an athlete—unless you count slow perimeter laps around the yard or the occasional “Hey, don’t forget to pet me” leg nudge. He prefers his exercise light, his meals consistent, and his attention from humans on the “gentle ear scratches and compliments” end of the spectrum. Meal time? No nonsense. He eats a mix of kibble, canned food, and Honest Kitchen with quiet appreciation. Green beans were a no. Freeze-dried liver treats? A hard yes. He takes snacks like a gentleman and doesn’t guard anything (because frankly, who has the energy?). Buck-O did have a couple accidents in the house early on (fresh out of surgery, who among us wouldn’t?), but quickly got the hang of the routine. He’s now a pro at heading to the door when nature calls and even steps off the patio to handle business with dignity. He’s blind, yes—but once he maps out the house, he’ll follow your voice like a slow-moving, tail-wagging Roomba with feelings. He gets along with calm dogs, greets visitors sweetly, and sleeps like it’s his full-time job. Basically, Buck-O is the canine equivalent of a warm blanket and a good audiobook: comforting, low-maintenance, and always happy to be near you. If you want a dog who doesn’t need long hikes or constant stimulation—just a soft spot to land, a kind voice to follow, and maybe a liver treat now and then—Buck-O is your guy. Buck-O arrived at the San Diego Humane Society as a stray. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on July 3rd.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Buck-O, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
