Scully ACCT-A-224859 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Scully must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by SUNDAY, JULY 20TH at 10AM. Should Scully's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Meet Scully, a sweet and gentle girl who is sure to melt your heart looking into her beautiful brown eyes. Scully is understandably overwhelmed in the shelter – she is hesitant of people showing up at her kennel and unsure of why she ended up here. Scully was brought to ACCT Philly on July 4th after police found her lying quietly. She wasn’t causing any trouble—just curled up and seemingly waiting for someone who never came. Officers knocked on doors throughout the neighborhood but no one claimed her, and no owner information was found. Volunteers describe her as sweet, treat-motivated, and very curious on walks. She’s still unsure about sudden movements and doesn’t seek out pets, but she takes them politely and shows potential to blossom with patient care. She enjoys exploring the play yard and met another dog and did well. Scully’s gentle heart is shining through more and more, and she continues to gain confidence as she spends time with volunteers. She’s a special dog who needs a calm home where she can fully come out of her shell. VIDEOS: Bert and Scully leashed meet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9QcdA3wpwoFudge Sunday and Scully Drop Leash: https://youtu.be/azDjq3P7V2o BEHAVIOR: Per volunteer 7/15: Excited for a walk, loves sniffing. Very curious about everything. Wanted some pets. Per volunteer 7/14: Pulls on leash very strong. Sweet girl. Takes treats gently. Hesitant with pets. Per volunteer 7/14: Sweet girl. Good walk. Per volunteer 7/8: Kennel Presence: When I first approached her kennel she was sleeping soundly on her bed. I made a few noises and called her over but she didn’t wake up so I let her sleep. When I went back later, she was still on her bed, but awake this time. As I opened the kennel door, she didn’t come forward and seemed hesitant with a slightly tucked tail. As I fully opened the door, she then laid down on her bed. Body language seemed relaxed, so I stepped into kennel and leashed her while she was laying down. She allowed me to easily loop her and she hopped right out of the kennel with me! Leash: She zigzags a bit when she walks and when she finds a smell she likes she pulls slightly. Handling: In the play yard I sat on a bench and she sniffed around the yard then made her way over to me to sniff me out too. She seems to be treat motivated and takes them incredibly gently out of my hand. Doesn’t seem to know commands. Went into the volunteer office and was loose with new handlers, taking treats from their hand. Doesn’t solicit out pets, but is fine taking them. Cowers back with sudden hand movements. Went back into kennel very easily! Color: Gave her gold due to being fearful at first. Per volunteer 7/8: Good on walk and on leash. Per volunteer 7/7: Did better today, came out without having to give treats. Per volunteer 7/6: Very sweet, use treats to coax her out. Once out she's fine. MEDICAL: On 7/9, Scully was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on medication. She tested negative for pneumovirus and is on doxycycline until 7/22. During her intake exam on 7/4, Scully appeared to be in good health. Her eyes, nose, and coat were clean, her ears were slightly waxy, and she weighed 59 pounds. - Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
