Simon needs your help. A very nice elderly cat rescuer saved him a few years ago. Recently, she fell and broke her hip and wrist. She can no longer care for the cats, including Simon, who is diabetic and needs medication every 12 hours. Simon is about nine years old. He was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago. He's on Glipizide*, a pill, because of his caretaker's inability to inject insulin due to arthritis in her fingers. He's done well with 1/2 pill every 12 hours mixed into 1/2 can of Fancy Feast, followed by 1/2 cup of grain-free kibble. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who wants to be with people. Unfortunately, he has to spend all of his time in a kennel these days. Poor Simon is a little unsettled and hides when the strangers come in to help his rescuer. Because he needs to eat all of his Fancy Feast (and his hidden pill--shhhh don't tell Simon) at one time, it can't be left out where the other kitties can get to it. The only way to ensure Simon gets all of his medication is to have him in a kennel. Simon is such a lovely, cute boy, and he'll bring so much happiness and joy to someone. We think he'd even do great in a home with older kids. This baby deserves a fabulous home. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you're interested in learning more about Simon. He's in the Kansas City metro, but transport might be available to the right home. *A 90-day supply of Glipizide costs as little as $12.94.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Simon, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
