** $35 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! ** *New photos and videos 7/26* Fae ACCT-A-224851 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Fae must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, July 29th, 2025 at 10AM. Should Fae’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Fae is a graceful, petite white mixed breed pup who’s had a bit of a rough start but is hoping to find her perfect match. She was brought into the shelter by Animal Protection Officers after being found curled up on a stranger’s porch, where she had stayed for three days hoping for help. Despite her uncertain past, Fae has shown resilience, sweetness, and so much potential. In the shelter, Fae has been described as dainty, treat-motivated, and polite on leash. She takes treats gently, knows how to sit, and even loves a good game of fetch—gently placing her toy back at your feet. She enjoys handling once she’s comfortable and has done well in dog playgroups, showing playful interest and engaging respectfully with other pups. Fae briefly went to a foster home, where she showed signs of separation anxiety—crying and barking when left alone, even with enrichment and calming efforts in place. She struggled with being crated or gated off and had trouble settling when apart from her person. Her foster noted that she’s incredibly smart, loves to run and play, and may do best in a home with someone experienced, strong enough to handle her physically, and ideally with another playful dog companion. Fae is a bit of an independent soul with a heart of gold. She thrives on companionship and structure and is looking for someone patient, loving, and ready to help her continue building confidence and feel safe. With the right environment, she’s sure to blossom into your loyal, loving best friend. If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet, sensitive girl who just needs a chance, Fae may be the one you’ve been waiting for. With some pep in her step, we exited the shelter & I switched to a harness-styled leash. Fae walked with a moderate pace and a little back and forth that was manageable. She took treats very nicely. We walked along HPA and Fae did not react to the traffic or noises. When I sat on the curb, Fae snuggled into my legs and place her head on my right shoulder. She licked my neck and face. Fae was loose and relaxed for butt rubs and all handling. When we got up to leave, Fae did 2 short zoomies on leash. She had a big smile on her face. As we walked back to the shelter, Fae sat nicely for treats on command. I undid the harness as she stood calmly by the door and Fae jumped into the kennel on her own. She is such a nice dog. Volunteer notes 7/25: Fae was laying quietly on her bed when I approached her kennel. She stepped forward and was easy to leash. Immediately outside, she peed. Fae was pulling a bit so I converted my leash to a harness and that helped with pulling and also walking more straight. On our walk, Fae had a moderate cadence and took treats very nicely. She was comfy with pets on her head and back. Back at the shelter, she pulled slightly with interest at another dog nearby. We went into the covered run where Fae sat nicely for treats. She chased after a stuffed toy and squeaky ball several times with an opened mouth and relaxed body language. Fae had no reaction to my hand around the toys either in her mouth or on the ground. She played a lot with the fluffy toy eventually removing one of the squeakers- haha. We got some promotional video of Fae being playful. She walked through the kennels calmly & entered the kennel on her own. Such a nice well-behaved dog. Very impressed Per foster 7/23/25: Regrettably, I cannot foster Fae and need to return her this morning. She is much stronger than I’m able to control. She has extreme separation anxiety. She has been in my office with her crate, toys, long lasting chew sticks, soft music, water, etc. But as soon as I am able to close the door, she starts crying. I gave her 100 mg Trazodone at around 4:30 pm. I let her chase a ball in my yard until she tired out, then fed her dinner. I then sat with her in her room until she fell asleep, but as soon as I got up to leave, she woke up and got anxious again as soon as the door was closed. I can’t physically get her into the crate I borrowed (which might be too small for her anyway - it doesn’t look big enough for her to be able to turn around in it). My neighbor loaned me a baby gate in hopes that being able to see me might calm her down, but she knocked it down. Last night, she cried, howled, barked, and scratched at the door. I haven’t looked at the other side of the door yet, but can see shreds of it on the floor outside. None of us got much sleep. I think she is a smart girl. I was able to get her to sit for treats and for throwing the ball. She also runs for the chain link fence when my neighbor’s two small dogs are outside, which is frequently the case. They bark at her, and she lunges at the fence - maybe just to play? I haven’t been able to make her come away from the fence, and both times my neighbor has had to take her dogs inside. I think Fae would do better in a home with someone strong enough to control her, and dogs who want to play with her. Per volunteer 7/8/25: Meet Fae, a dainty and elegant gal looking for her Fae-ever home! Fae is a petite and sweet girl who loves treats and loves to romp after toys. We promise after meeting her she’ll be your Fae-vorite! Fae was found as a stray and brought into the shelter by animal control on the 4th of July- it was said she was roaming the neighborhood she was found in for 3 days before neighbors called her in. This girl is resourceful and intelligent living out on her own! Since getting to the shelter Fae has shown that she's a somewhat independent lady who enjoys a good play session! She's low-medium energy while out in the play yard and open to handling from her friends. She has also joined our play group and done well with other doggie pals! Per volunteer 7/7/25: When I approached her kennel, she came right up to the front with a wiggly body and wagging tail, ears were alert and upright. Was trying to poke her nose to get out of the kennel, so I kept my knee sturdy against the door. Stepped right out of the kennel and actually walks really nicely on leash! Really minimal pulling. She knows sit and takes treats super gently out of my hand. When I hold treats out, she jumped up incredibly gently on me- very dainty gal. She took pets from me all over. Trotted after toys and fetched them back, then dropped it at my feet. She didn’t react when I went to grab the toy from under her. Playgroup 7/7/25: Semi-steerable, interested, playful bows, push/pull. Per staff 7/5/25: Fae was on the front side of her kennel and ran to the backside when she saw me. she was very nervous so i went slow for leashing as she came up to sniff my leash. she had a tucked tail and flat ears but allowed me to slowly secure her. she came out with a tucked tail. she pulled minimally and went to the bathroom as soon as she was out. in the yard she was tolerant of handling but did not solicit. she remained neutral and was not interest in anything.
