Atticus is the definition of a gentle soul. This affectionate, easygoing boy is a total couch potato who’s happiest when lounging nearby, soaking up your company and soaking in the love. If you’re looking for a calm, loyal companion who thrives on routine and togetherness, Atticus might just be your purrfect match. He’s friendly with family and visitors, enjoys being petted and loves being part of the household. He simply wants to be near his people. While he hasn't lived with children, he tends to hide when they visit, so homes with children may not be an ideal fit for Atticus. Atticus adores his feline brother Hudson who is also available for adoption, so if you're thinking about adopting multiple kitties, Hudson would be a great match. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us.
