A little floof with a big heart who’s ready to waddle right into your life (and your lap)! Penguin is a 3-4 year old, 11 lb Maltipoo who came to us from the shelter in rough shape— matted, smelly, and shut down. But once the clippers came out and the mats came off, this sweet boy began to transform. His coat may be shaved down for now (he says it's his summer look), but when it grows back, it’s going to be as soft and beautiful as his soul. From the moment he stepped into his foster home, Penguin showed what a gentle, loving heart he has. He’s a classic Velcro dog—following his person from room to room, always wanting to be close. If you’re looking for a little shadow who will love you with everything he’s got, Penguin is your guy. A Day in the Life of Penguin: Early morning walks to kick off the day Devouring breakfast like it's the best meal he’s ever had (every single time) Tagging along on daily errands, cautious but curious Lounging on the couch, preferably glued to your side Exploring toys and practicing zoomies (he’s just discovered the joys of play!) Evening walks and belly rubs galore Penguin is learning that toys are fun, that belly rubs are pure magic, and that he doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. He’s gaining confidence every day—he even does a happy little spin when it’s mealtime or treat time. His favorite place in the world? Right next to you. Or ideally, touching you. The Penguin Lowdown: Housetrained Working on leash skills (he’s new to it but doing great!) Has some separation anxiety— he loves hard and worries when you leave, so continued training will help. His foster mom is currently working on building his confidence and leaving him alone for longer and longer periods of time. Quiet— rarely barks Friendly but initially shy with new people and big dogs Penguin would do best in a calm home with someone who can offer lots of affection and companionship. He could live with another gentle dog or as your one-and-only, as long as he gets plenty of love. Because he’s still learning to trust the world, he’ll need a patient adopter committed to helping him continue to blossom. Why You'll Love Penguin: His eyes say it all— this is a dog who will love you with his whole heart. His gentle nature, his sweet kisses, his sleepy little gurgles when he dreams… Penguin is the kind of dog who will make you smile every single day. He’s waited a long time to be someone’s everything. Maybe that someone is you.July 6, 2025, 12:18 pm
