My story

The title track to Merle Haggard’s 1983 album “That’s the Way Love Goes” includes the lyrics, “I`ve been throwing horseshoesOver my left shoulderI`ve spent most all my lifeSearching for that four-leaf cloverYet you ran with meChasing my rainbowsHoney, I love you tooThat`s the way love goes”Our Merle is a pup who has also traveled a winding road to end up at PACC. He’s looking for a devoted family who will walk beside him as he travels a more secure and loving path forward. In spite of his abrupt introduction to shelter life, Merle’s courage and resolve shine through as he learns to trust people more and more each day. Here’s what some of his friends have said:“Merle is gaining confidence, trust and skills here in the shelter! He`s an outstanding boy who was part of a now famous dump and run at the shelter. He came in with a number of other dogs, undersocialized and fearful. He is definitely opening up and will wag his tail in a friendly manner when volunteers approach his kennel to leash him up. He`s getting more and more comfortable with respectful touch. He is a fun boy; he will play ball with me in the play yard and I can tell that once he gets into a home he will open up and show what a wonderful pup he can be!”“Merle is a lot more comfortable with shelter life and he looks forward to hanging out with walkers. He walks better on leash and this week he enjoyed petting and getting his tufts pulled. He gave good eye contact and that was really sweet.”Merle has shared his kennel politely in the shelter and has been tolerant and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’s looking for a compassionate, gentle family who will give him time to decompress in a stable home and let him continue to blossom! Merle is SO WORTH IT; come meet him today!
