My story

Kweco is a soft-eyed, soulful pup looking for a quiet, patient home where she can truly blossom. Found as a stray, she may be reserved at first, but give her time, and you’ll see gentle tail wags, calm curiosity, and a heart full of love. This lovely girl walks beautifully on leash and is easy to handle. While she’s still warming up to new people and surroundings, she’s incredibly sweet and takes treats politely. She hasn’t shown interest in toys yet, but she enjoys calm companionship and just being near her person. Kweco is dog-social with respectful dogs her size, but she would do best in a home without cats or small animals. With a slow and gentle introduction, she could enjoy the company of another calm canine companion. Her ideal home is one that matches her energy, peaceful, loving, and full of patience as she builds confidence. She calmly exited the shelter and on our walk, she checked in with me many times. She walked controlled and moderate pace- no pulling. Kweco and I returned to a run where she sniffed and approached for treats. She climbed in my lap for pets and was calm overall. She allowed handling of her head, chest and back with relaxed ears and tail. Kweco was a delight to meet. She was very well behaved on leash and with a dropped leash in the run. No issues with over the head leash removal. Per volunteer Day Trip 7/15/25: She is very easy to walk on the leash. She's interested in people nearby but doesn't pull the leash or bark. She's also a great car rider. She rode calmly in the back seat and only tried to climb into my lap when she realized we were in a drive through. We only walked outside for 5 or 10 minutes and then she was ready to get back in the car and rest. She loves to be pet and loves to lay her head on your lap. She's definitely a cuddler and would make a great family dog 07/14/2025 staff notes: Making available. No prey drive seen in small dog meeting so she’s a safe candidate to place in most homes, except those with cats or in locations with many outdoor cats. Also should not be exposed in a home to any small critters. 07/14/2025 staff notes: Kennel presentation: Sitting on the bed with soft eyes, furrowed brow, mouth closed. Leash skills: Easy to leash and walked on a loose leash outside, slower movements, tail down and still, tentative. Sociability: Aloof initially, when I solicited interaction she came over with head lower, tail down not wagging, soft eyes, mouth closed when I was touching her. Gentle taking treats, did not respond to any know cues like sit. As we spent more time together she gave low tail wags and did some gentle panting. Play: No interest in play or toys Dog interaction: Sheena (small dog): initially saw her thru the fence and sniffed the ground, unfazed. When meeting on leash she approached the side, ears to the side, piloerection, tense body. Brady (large dog): same as small Return to kennel: Walked on a loose Leash to kennel. Easy to remove the leash. Color level: gold 07/11/2025 finder notes: Towards strangers, children, animals: Perfect/ Docile. Walks very well on leash.
