My story

Introducing Lava, a stunning 3 year old whose name is as captivating as her personality. Rescued by a compassionate, local grassroots organization and welcomed into our care, Lava is now on the lookout for a forever home that appreciates her quiet strength and adventurous spirit. Like the black sand beaches of faraway Martinique, Lava is rare, mysterious and unforgettable. Her sleek, dark coat and bright, inquisitive eyes give her an exotic charm that’s impossible to ignore. But don’t let her cool exterior fool you because Lava is curious and loves to explore, always on the move to discover new nooks, perches and sunspots. She'd thrive in a home that respects her exploratory nature while giving her space to truly blossom. A quick note about Lava’s health: She does have a health waiver on file due to a heart murmur. While this may sound a little intimidating, don’t worry—our knowledgeable adoption consultant will go over everything with you in detail. We’ll make sure you have the information needed to confidently care for Lava and set you both up for a happy life together. Lava is: 🐾 Curious and independent – a true explorer at heart 🐾 Elegant and striking – her sleek black fur is pure island magic 🐾 3 years old and full of life – the perfect age for those who want a playful cat without the wild energy of a kitten If you're looking for a graceful, intelligent and slightly mysterious companion who will quietly rule your heart and home, Lava is ready to erupt into your life—with love, of course. The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com.
