My story

ADOPTION RETURN NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 7/11/2025:  Watto - male - approx 15 years old - 3.4 pounds - Poodle Reason for intake:  Watto came to us originally on June 15, 2020, from the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.  He was adopted on July 2, 2020.  Sadly, the husband passed away in January and the wife passed away a few days ago.  We were contacted by their daughter.  She could not take care of him either due to illness and there was no one else to take in this sweet boy.  Pretty much all vetting is done except a couple of vaccinations.  He does have a torn ACL and luxating patella in his right rear leg.  He is too old and fragile to do anything about it.  He does get around, albeit very slow.  We will post in the comments, his picture when he was with us originally.  It's sad for us to remember them so vibrant and then very old and fragile.  We will post him for adoption soon and we hope someone out there will give this little boy a home for however long he has left. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings.
