My story

Whenever a sweet and engaging dog mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. Tessa is the friendliest, most social dog we have met! She knows no stranger and is such a happy girl! It blows our minds that Tessa could have been euthanized at a dismal Texas shelter due to a lack of space. But her sweet nature, helicopter wagging tail and loving ways endeared her to all who met her. Now Tessa has arrived to Colorado and is safe with a foster until we find her a loving forever home. Tessa is such a perfect age and size. At just about 2 years old, she's young enough to be a blank slate open to new and wonderful experiences in her life, yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind. Tessa weighs 38 lbs, the perfect size to accompany her family everywhere a sweet and well-behaved medium-sized dog is welcome. From Tessa's foster: "Tessa has absolutely no cares in the world and is living her BEST life. She is the happiest go lucky dog I've ever met! She has ZERO anxiety, she's not skiddish or timid at all, any noises she doesn't care about, she is literally the perfect dog! And she is so social!!! She is not high energy, I'm telling you she is perfect! She's very curious and adventurous, and if you make eye contact with her for more than 3 seconds she gets excited and walks over to you for some pets." We're looking for an adopter for Tessa that spends lots of time at home and would enjoy this sweet, beautiful girl's company. A retired couple or individual will be perfect for Tessa as that age group tends to spend lots of quality time with their dog. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be an excellent choice for this loving best friend. Tessa is too social of a pup to be happy alone while her family spends the long hours of full time employment working outside of the home. While Tessa is not kid-tested, she is incredibly friendly and gentle, and we would be comfortable with her going to a home with kids aged 7 or older. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Tessa in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force free training class promotes great behavior and builds confidence in a super-smart dog who is learning about her world. These classes are so important in teaching pups their skills and in the bonding process with their family that Farfel's is unwilling to adopt Tessa out to a family that doesn't choose this loving training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in in your area. Tessa is available for adoption now! Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.
