My story

ABOUT STRAWBERRY Looking for a sweet hippo?! Come meet Strawberry! This affectionate, wiggly girl is a 2-year-old pittie mix. Strawberry came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in San Antonio, Texas, following the devastating floods. Thankfully, Strawberry was in a foster home in Texas prior to the floods, so she was safe! Her foster family has kept in contact with us, sharing details about her personality and what she was like in a home. As we have seen here, Strawberry is the wiggliest girl you'll ever meet, always so excited to spend time with people. In a home environment, she has been super well-mannered, house-trained, and always friendly with guests. She loves any and all attention, especially belly rubs. Strawberry has done well with other calm, laid-back pups. Strawberry has also participated in our Doggy Day Out program, where she has rose to fame with our volunteers! Here's what some of them had to say about her: "We spent the day cuddling and exploring a new environment. She is the goofiest girl that adores her people, aka she followed me everywhere I went. Strawberry loves to be as close as possible and give you all the kisses she can to show you how much she loves you! This also includes flopping onto you for belly rubs. She takes her treats very gently which was so sweet. She is so chill and happy to be where you are no matter what you’re doing. She definitely loves just chilling and being with you. She actually could not be any better and I love her so much!!" - Abby "We had Strawberry for our doggie day out. She is nothing shy of perfect. The sweetest girl with a gentle soul. My daughter and her bonded so much. She is easy on the leash and in the car. And she loved the pup cup we got her! I would gladly take her out anytime." - Nichole If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Strawberry, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
