My story

Emilio is an 8-year-old German Shepherd boy who was brought to KCPP as a stray. He has spent time in the clinic getting all fixed up for his forever family. Emilio just needed to gain some weight and get some baths, but he is all better now! He is definitely a spry older dog who loves to show off his gorgeous Shepherd trot on walks! His foster reports that Emilio is completely house trained and is allowed to free roam in the house. He will crate if necessary and puts himself to bed.Emilio went on a Dog Day Out and here is what his new friends had to say. `This boy is generally calm and likes to lounge around. He likes car rides and sits politely in the back seat, waiting until he gets to his new adventure destination. Outside, he is happy and curious. He does all of his pottying outside and loves a soft dog bed. He`ll even put himself down for a nap when he`s tired! He is very tolerant of touch and allows brushing, not showing any signs of discomfort. Emilio was a great houseguest and a very happy dog!`Emilio got a chance for another Dog Day Out and it sounds like he had more adventures this time! `Emilio was very excited but a bit shy when I first picked him up. He jumped right into my car. When we got to the park he immediately started crying with anticipation. He was so curious and wanted to sniff everything! At first he was very eager and pulled a bit but he slowly relaxed and started walking next to me. He was very interested in the squirrels and kept trying to catch beetles in his mouth! Back at my home, after about an hour, he began really opening up and placing his head on my legs and asking for pets. He was very good around most dogs and only barked at one. Emilio was such an adorable, gentle dog that took a bit of time to open but is clearly so loving. He loves being pet and having something to do. He was such a good boy!Emilio goes to doggy playgroups and has decided that he would like to be the only male dog in your home, but he would love to meet any potential female canine siblings! Our staff will carefully handle all dog-to-dog introductions at the shelter to ensure a great match. Emilio is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. If you are interested in Emilio please email foster@kcpetproject.org. He is living in a foster home. His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Emilio, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
