My story

Meet Meatball, a very handsome chunky mans looking for a new best friend! Meatball was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. His finder described him as friendly and anxious. The finder also mentioned he seemed to be sick and congested, which continued at the shelter. He is doing his best to keep his spirits high even when physically he hasn't been feeling too good. Meatball would love to recover in a safe home where his true personality can shine. Meet Meatball any day at ACCT Philly- you can meet him any day from 10am-6pm! But Meatball is an absolute snuggle bug and lap dog. He loves sitting with you and getting affection and petting. Meatball walked past other dogs without any issues. Behavior eval per volunteer 7/24/25: Kennel Presence: When I approached his kennel, he was sleeping on his bed soundly. I made a few kissing noises and he looked up and looked all around, clearly woken out of a deep slumber. Leash: Overall he moves very slowly and leisurely, but he is sick so not sure if this is his usual energy level. Stops and sniffs frequently on walks. Can be a bit stubborn on leash where he’s really into a smell, he will put the brakes on so that you can’t pull him away but otherwise he’s really great on leash while walking without pulling. Handling: In the play yard he sniffed around and was very low energy. He didn’t take any treats but again not sure if that is because he is sick. Came over to me when I was sitting down and put his head in my lap taking pets all over. Color: Giving him gold sticker – he could be green, but I just want to make sure he is not just lower energy right now due to doggy cold. If behavior continues this way, he can be made Green. Play group 7/20/25: Was stiff at first, didn't give much of anything, gradually warmed up in the yard and gave good greetings, overheated quickly and was sent in - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
