My story

Meet Galacia. This stunning girl has already lived through a lot in her young life. She started out on a breeding farm in the Maritimes, but when the owner decided they no longer wanted her, she was passed to another home — and then, not long after, she needed to move again. That’s when SPIN got the call: could we help? We didn’t have an available foster on the East Coast, but we did have two incredible volunteers who jumped into action. They picked her up and drove her all the way to Montreal — and from there, Galacia made her way to Toronto. (We say it all the time, but it’s true: SPIN has the best volunteers!) When she arrived, it was clear she was in desperate need of care. Galacia was painfully thin, covered in fleas, and had sores all over her body. But even in that condition, everyone who met her — even for just a moment — could see what a truly special dog she is. Galacia has been with us since mid-May 2025, and what a joy it’s been to watch her heal, grow, and show the world the lovely dog she’s always been.
