My story

Name: Rooster Breed: Brittany Spaniel Mix Age: Approximately 1 year Weight: 44 lbs Meet Rooster — a young, active pup who’s just beginning to discover how good life can be. Rooster showed up at a job site after likely being dumped or running away. Since then, he's been adjusting well to life with caring humans and indoor living. Rooster is crate-trained and learning quickly about house manners. In his first five days, he had only two urine accidents and has already started to understand that outside is the place to go. He does well overnight when left loose and doesn’t destroy anything except for his designated pillow. He’s still figuring out the leash and social etiquette — he barked at other dogs in the vet waiting room, but also peacefully spent the night with a calm 15-year-old female dog. He rides in the car OK and is very responsive to learning. Rooster is incredibly tolerant with trusted people — he allows baths, paw care, even socks — and he’s always up for a game of fetch or tug. He’s still working on curbing his habit of chewing beds, but he’s smart and very teachable. If you’re looking for a young dog to grow with, one who thrives on structure, affection, and play — Rooster might be the one for you. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee: $225 for all dogs and puppies.
