My story

Meet Elmer – a gentle giant with a heart as big as his 95-pound frame! This affectionate boy is the total package: house trained, crate trained, dog friendly, and walks beautifully on a leash. Elmer is calm, loving, and happiest when he’s close to his people, soaking up attention and offering his quiet companionship. He has a soothing presence that makes everyone around him feel at ease, and he’s always ready for a cuddle or a stroll through the neighborhood. Elmer’s story began in a ditch, where he was found abandoned and in need of help. Despite his rough start, he’s blossomed into a loyal, sweet-natured dog who’s ready to give his whole heart to a family that will love him back. He gets along well with other dogs and would do great in a home where he can relax and be part of the family. Elmer doesn’t ask for much—just a soft place to rest, some gentle affection, and someone to call his own. Elmer was born on May 15, 2021, and is currently being fostered in Fort Worth, Texas. If you’re looking for a big, gentle soul to complete your home, Elmer is ready to be your best friend.All of our dogs are located in a foster home in Texas, Colorado, or Pennsylvania. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Mutts N Such direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).Our out of state adoption fee is $350 plus transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, a registered microchip, fecal analysis, spay/neuter for pets 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs will be current on flea/heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days.
