My story

Boomer is the kind of dog who seems tailor-made for joy: sturdy, sweet, hilarious, and handsome in that rugged, dog-next-door kind of way. He’s six years old, house-trained, healthy, polite on leash, and fluent in “sit,” “shake,” and “down.” He’ll match your energy whether you’re dancing in the kitchen or curled up with a book. He is, quite simply, a delight.Boomer came to Animal Aid Society from an overcrowded shelter. He was adopted, adored, and returned when his person received unexpected deployment orders. Then adopted again -- and returned again when his new person couldn’t care for him. None of this was Boomer’s fault, and he carries no bitterness, no baggage. He is the same joyful, steady dog he’s always been -- the kind who greets every new person with hope in his eyes and his whole heart behind the wag.In dog playgroup, Boomer is a master of tone. If another dog wants to wrestle and sprint, he’s all in. If they’re shy or nervous, he slows down, softens up, and makes sure they feel safe. Boomer doesn’t just play -- he listens. He helps other dogs come out of their shells.Around people, Boomer is an affectionate, goofy shadow. He loves a belly rub, a slow walk, a snack, a couch. He’s smart, sensitive, silly, and so very easy to love. But he’s also a big, strong dog -- strong enough that when the mood strikes and the zoomies hit, you’ll want to be on solid footing. There are 319 bones in Boomer’s body (we counted), and not a single one is mean -- but his exuberance could absolutely take down a toddler or a frail adult. For that reason, we’re recommending a home without small dogs or cats, very young children, or anyone unsteady on their feet. Not because Boomer isn’t safe -- just because he’s sturdy and doesn’t always know his own strength.Boomer would thrive with a person, couple, or family who has the space (and sense of humor) to enjoy his antics, and the heart to give him a real shot at forever. He’d love a dog friend, a backyard, and someone who doesn’t mind being followed from room to room. In return, Boomer will fill your home with joy, make you laugh daily, and stand by you with the kind of loyalty that can’t be taught.Boomer is waiting at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton. We’re open every day from 9am to noon, including weekends and holidays.Boomer’s ready. He knows "sit." He knows "down." Now, please, show him how it feels to STAY.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Boomer, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
