My story

If you asked Tucker what 5 items he would want if he were stranded on a deserted island, the answer would be tennis balls... Lots of tennis balls. This fun, loving dog is obsessed with playing fetch! Tucker is such a sweet boy, he even shares his most prized possession with his human and doggie friends. He gently drops the ball at his foster's feet and patiently waits for it to be thrown for him. He is never too far from a ball, even when he's sleeping! Tucker is great with other dogs. He is currently being fostered with 4 other dogs similar in size to him and ranging in age and he gets along with all of them! He respects the senior pup's space and matches play styles with the other, younger and middle-aged dogs. While he would not mind being an only dog, we think he would prefer having another playful pup in the home. Tucker is very smart and takes correction wonderfully. He can sit on command, is kennel and potty trained, and seems interested in learning more tricks! He is very outgoing and has never met a stranger. After playtime, he joins his foster parents and other pups on the couch for a movie. He is part of the welcoming committee when new people come over and he is quick to guide them to his tennis ball for a game of fetch. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent! The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP and booster, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test, heartworm and flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet! We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024. By transporting our adoptable pets to areas with fewer unwanted pets, they have a better chance of quickly finding loving homes, while also freeing up space in Texas shelters and giving more local animals a chance at life.
