My story

Valentina came to BARCS after arriving as a stray. Her finder shared that she was friendly and easy to handle—and we’re starting to see that gentle nature shine through here at the shelter. While she may be a bit shy at first, Valentina is learning to trust, and once she warms up, she’s incredibly affectionate and wants to stay close by your side. She came in a little underweight, but thanks to her love for treats, she’s already gaining some healthy weight back. With a little patience and a lot of love, Valentina is going to make a wonderful companion.Valentina is currently enjoying some time in a short-term foster home, and she’s settling in beautifully. This sweet girl walks well on a leash—she may lose focus now and then, but she’s easily redirected and clearly wants to please. On walks, she’s calm around people and shows only curiosity toward other dogs. Valentina appears to be house-trained. She had a couple of accidents during her first day while adjusting to her new environment, but now she’s starting to feel more at home. She can be a bit timid at first, but winning her over doesn’t take much. A soft voice and gentle movements are all it takes—and once she trusts you, she absolutely melts.Valentina has met other dog pals at BARCS, she does best with gentle dog pals. She may need to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. Valentina is currently in the comfort of a foster home.
