My story

Dawn’s story began in a neighborhood in El Paso, Texas, where the stray dog population was overwhelming—and heartbreakingly, some people were intentionally harming these vulnerable animals. When we heard about the tragic loss of dogs in the area, we knew we had to step in. We hit the road to meet Dawn and bring her to safety. When we finally met her, Dawn’s timid eyes and cautious demeanor spoke volumes about the hardships she had faced. We gently loaded her into the car, along with a few other dogs in need, and set off on the long road back to Arizona—knowing we were giving her a second chance at life. This one-year-old Doberman mix is shy and reserved, but beneath her hesitation is a heart full of quiet hope. Since arriving, Dawn has completed a 5-week Board + Train program to help her build confidence and trust. She’s made incredible progress and continues to impress us with how much she’s learned. While she still takes things slowly, each small victory reveals more of her gentle spirit and resilient heart. Dawn is now ready to find a loving, patient home where she can feel safe and grow at her own pace. She’ll thrive with someone who understands the beauty of earning a dog’s trust and watching them blossom.
