My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 9th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $700 Meet Bundtlet! 2–3 years old | 14 lbs | Yorkie mix   From shut down shelter dog to soft, sweet sidekick—Bundtlet has come a long way, and she’s looking for someone patient and gentle to help her continue blooming.   Bundtlet arrived in rescue very pregnant and very scared. But after giving birth in her foster’s bathroom (yep—literal labor and delivery suite), she began a slow but steady transformation. These days, she’s a waggy-tailed, belly-rub-loving little velcro dog who sleeps soundly in her crate all night, walks beautifully on leash, and finds deep joy in lounging around on a fluffy donut bed.   She’s not much of a cuddler (yet), but she is deeply loyal, forming strong bonds with her trusted people. She wants to be able to see you at all times— and she’ll whine if she can’t— so someone home often or with a dog-friendly remote work setup would be ideal. Alone time is a work in progress.   Bundtlet is fully housetrained, non-destructive, rarely barks (but does whine), and doesn’t chew or dig. She’s even started picking up toys and carrying them around like prized possessions— even if she’s not totally sure what to do with them. She’s also got a surprisingly athletic side: she chases bugs and birds with great determination and will try to catch anything that flutters by.   She’s a dream on leash— no pulling, stays close, checks in, and even sits when you stop walking. Bundtlet’s still shy with strangers and easily startled by loud or sudden movements. She’s not aggressive, but she’ll try to avoid interactions with unfamiliar people and loud kids. She’d do best in a calm, adult-only home, or one with dog-savvy teens.   She loves her foster’s dog and has learned so much from her. While she hasn’t clicked with other dogs yet, we think she’d thrive with a mellow, confident canine companion who gives her space and shows her the ropes.     Bundtlet may not be the kind of dog who’ll jump in your lap on Day One. But if you give her a little time, a soft bed, and a lot of love, she’ll reward you with quiet devotion, gentle tail wags, and the kind of bond that only comes from helping a dog feel safe for the first time in her life.   And hey—if she trusts you enough to give birth in your bathroom?
