My story

Hey there, I’m Hammy, a 10-year-old pitty mix with a gentle soul and a heart full of love.I arrived at the Adams County SPCA with my `son`, Blaze. Our owner tried to drop us off at another shelter, sadly most shelters can`t take owner surrenders on the same day. So he drove us to the Adams County SPCA and left us in the Police drop-off pens late at night. The next day, he was going to jail, and sadly, we were out of options. We know he cared about us, but we wish he had made a plan for us ahead of time. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you know you won’t be able to keep your pets, PLEASE plan ahead. Don’t wait until the last minute. In most cases, you have some notice to get your affairs in order. Please don’t forget about your beloved pets. We rely on you. We love you and when your world is turning upside down, ours is too. Abandoning your pets is not only heartbreaking, it’s against the law.Even though we can’t explain our past to the staff here, they’ve been incredibly kind and patient with us. They say I’m a sweet, mellow guy who just wants a comfy bed, gentle affection, and a quiet home where I can finally feel safe and loved again. Don`t get me wrong, this old man still has lots of energy, my son keeps me young at heart. I get along well with other dogs, I’m housebroken, and I still have plenty of love to give.If you`re looking for a loyal companion with wise old eyes and a calm spirit, I just might be your guy.
