Name: Lucie Age: 4 years Gender: female Breed: Treeing Feist Weight: 22 lbs Dog friendly: yes Cat friendly: testing available upon request Child friendly: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: moderate Temperament: playful, sweet and sassy Requirement: Not suited for apartment living, but would thrive in a town home or condo Adoption Fee: $375+tax To adopt, go to: http://www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: When we first got Lucie we thought she was a Jack Russell terrier mix. Her previous owner’s family provided us with her original adoption papers which show that she is, in fact, a Treeing Feist. Never heard of the breed? Neither had we. Both feists and Jack Russells are small, energetic, and have a strong hunting drive. Feists generally have a softer coat, a quieter demeanor, and a more adaptable nature compared to the more frenetic Jack Russell. Lucie’s previous owner moved into a nursing home and the family couldn’t take her in so they decided to re-home her. This girl is curious and lovable. She is food motivated and especially loves her treats. She sits by the door when she wants to go outside. She runs and plays with her bigger foster brother. Her sleek, short coat is a mix of brindle and white, and her expressive ears perk up at the slightest rustle of leaves or hint of movement. She does great on walks, scanning her surroundings for any hint of a rabbit or squirrel, letting you know when she spots one but continuing to walk like a good girl. Despite her natural hunting instincts, Lucie has a sweet, affectionate side that emerges the moment she’s back at home. She’s quick to curl up on a cozy blanket or nuzzle her human’s hand with her soft snout, seeking out attention and companionship. She’s a small dog with a big heart From Lucie: I am just a little worried about all of the changes lately. I am not going to let it stop me from having fun though. I love playing in the yard with my foster brother. He gets a little rough sometimes so I just go find my person to help. I am also very interested in adventures like walks. There is so much to see in this new place. I am always up for whatever is happening inside whether it is sitting on the couch, chewing on a bone or watching for squirrels out the window. Outside I love to get the zoomies and explore. I am excited to find a loving family to call my own. August 1, 2025, 11:33 pm
