My story

I have an Adoption Pending but hope you will consider one of our other dogs in need. Thank you! When this stunning young lady was picked up in AL by animal control, the consensus was unanimous that she was incredibly "pretty." Thus, she was aptly named PRETTY! Like a supermodel, this girl is all legs. Think "Alicia Schmidt," the gorgeous young Olympic track star - Pretty covers the play yard in hardly any steps. It’s like seeing a thoroughbred galloping with hardly any effort at all. Poetry in motion... truly. But this superstar has a soft side, and she tries to be a lap dog and comes in very close for extra attention and petting. Our volunteer in AL shares, "I’ve discovered she’s keen on retrieving! She even tosses a toy in the air, and if I’m not fast enough to pick it up, she will pounce on it - how cute is that! Pretty may be a Golden Retriever mix, judging by the way she delights in retrieving a toy and bringing it back to me. She gets along well with other dogs and has a new friend at the kennel named Bear. It's so sweet to see them together. Pretty is very affectionate and a real head-turner. " Watch her play in her video! Pretty is estimated to be around 18-20 months of age and has an exuberant, happy personality. She's had no accidents in her run, a good sign that she is housebroken. While she was quite timid when she first came, she’s outgoing and loves being outside. Whoever is fortunate to adopt her will be enchanted by this "pretty," gracious, and sweet girl! Pretty is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, micro-chipped, and heartworm negative. She has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention and is ready to meet her new family. Could that possibly be YOU? The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home. ADOPTION FEES - Effective of October 1, 2024 PUREBRED DOGS Purebred puppies, up to 6 months $1000 Purebred dogs, 6 months - 6 years $800 Purebred dogs, 7 - 9 years $650 Purebred dogs, 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Pairs of Purebred Puppies, up to 6 months $1600 Bonded pair - young purebred dogs $1400 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $1000 MIXED BREED DOGS Up to 6 months $850 6 months - 6 years $750 7 - 9 years $650 10 years and up $550 Young dogs with special needs $650 Senior dogs with special needs $500 Bonded pair - young dogs $1000 Bonded pair - senior dogs 7 years & up $900 A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed.
