Pixel is a stunning 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/Wirehaired Terrier mix with the cutest scruffy coat and the sweetest personality to match. She’s an affectionate little lovebug who’s happiest when she’s making new human friends—belly rubs, hugs, and pets are her absolute favorite things in the world! When she’s not soaking up attention, Pixel loves lounging in cozy beds for long naps and heading out for short, sniffy walks to explore the world at her own pace. She’s the perfect mix of laid-back and loving, and she’s ready to bring joy, snuggles, and tail wags to her forever home. When Pixel arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Pixel to undergo treatment and recovery is in a loving, stable home with a forever family. If you choose to adopt Pixel, the shelter’s clinic staff will support you every step of the way—answering questions and guiding you through the process. Heartworm treatment typically takes about three months and involves a few simple at-home precautions to keep Pixel safe and comfortable. The final step is a follow-up test about six months after treatment begins. The good news? Heartworm treatment is highly successful, and the staff fully expects Pixel to make a full recovery! And don’t worry—Heartworm is only transmitted through mosquitoes, so it can’t be passed from pet to pet. Stop in and meet Pixel in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pixel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
