My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:11At just 1 year old and 65 pounds, this brindle pittie mix is all heart, curiosity, and playful energy. Ferdinand recently spent time in a temporary foster home and we learned so much. Fun on walks: Relaxed and social with everyone he meets, and is making great progress on his leash skills. Generally easy to walk, though he does have strong prey drive. People-loving: Adores human attention and loves to cuddle up beside you. When excited, he can get a little jumpy or gently mouthy. His foster noted he does get nervous around unfamiliar people entering the home, and will need slow introductions. Smart and motivated: Already knows “sit” and “down,” is learning “leave it,” and takes treats politely. He’ll even wait patiently for “okay” before mealtimes. Nearly house trained with a consistent routine and sleeps quietly through the night in an open crate. Dog-social and playful: Enjoyed playgroups at the shelter, can thrive as a solo dog or with a well-matched dog buddy. Ferdinand would do well in a home that offers structure, patience, and positive reinforcement.
