Hello Pacific Northwest!! My name is RADAR and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Shepherd/Heeler mix (best guess, really!) Age: approx. 9 months Gender: Male Weight: 30 lbs (I will likely be ~40-45 lbs fully grown) Current Location: TEXAS RESCUE STORY - I was rescued from a euthanasia list at a local high-kill shelter in Texas. Due to no fault of my own, my life had a deadline because the shelter had too many dogs in their care. Thankfully, the amazing humans at County Roads Rescue swooped in and saved me! They can't believe I was due to be euthanized, they say I'm the sweetest boy and will be such an amazing pup for a Pacific Northwest fam! TEMPERAMENT - I am described as superrrr sweet and incredibly smart. In general, I am calm and friendly, although I do show a hint of anxiety. In typical shepherd fashion, I am veryyyy smart and will likely thrive having a job to do (whether that be Obedience training, Agility, or being an official adventure doggo). My rescuers say I'm keen to learn and eager to please; I am treat motivated and really enjoy training... making me a highly trainable pooch! Check out my video of all my tricks-- not to mention my sweet demeanor and happy tailwags. I would love an active family who can take me on outdoor adventures, I'm sure I'd be a great adventure buddy! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I can be energetic and playful at times (once I'm comfortable), but once my brain and body are sufficiently exercised, I'm a sweet, cuddly boy who enjoys affection and snuggles. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yup! Video coming soon! as with ALL dogs, I should always be supervised around children and I need to have my space respected. It's important to remember I am a rescue pup with minimal training, so I may play nip or bounce/jump up on people (including children!) Dogs – Yup! Check out my video. Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Low. I don't know how I'll react to squirrels/rabbits/cats etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, if they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I do pretty well on a slip leash but would love an adopter who is willing to continue working with me on my leash skills. Crate trained - Yes! Growing up in a kennel/shelter environment, my kennel is my safe space. There may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but with proper use, the crate can be my safe space :) House trained – I am house trained for the most part and know to do my business outside whenever I can. There may be an adjustment period when I go to my new home, but I'm sure with frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement in my new home, I'll catch on quickly! Bonus - My rescuers say I learn tricks at a rapid rate and am very training motivated (endless possibilities of what I can learn!) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I have tested negative for heartworm after treatment. I will be tested for distemper and parvo before travelling (although I've been vaccinated for both!) NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00, including applicable taxes ($750.00 CAD + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my ground transport to Edmonds, Washington. My adopter needs to be willing to drive to Edmonds, Washington to pick me up! :) ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible.
