Are you looking for a sweet, gentle, all-white boy to join your family? Then say hello to Little Bit, a handsome, 12 pound, 9-year-old Italian Greyhound ready for his forever home. Little Bit is truly special. He was born deaf, but that doesn't stop him from learning new things. He's learned how to walk on a leash and has even mastered going up a few stairs. Full staircases are still a bit tricky, and he won't go down them, but he's making good progress. This gentle boy absolutely loves to cuddle and get pets, though on his own terms due to his anxiety. He is cat like in this way as he shows affection on his terms so he'll jump up and love, even lick but it has to be his idea. When he's not snuggling, he enjoys snoozing in his comfy bed. He sleeps all through the night without needing potty breaks and is happy to sleep in on weekends. If he wakes up and sees you're still resting, he'll just snuggle back in and wait patiently. He does not want to sleep in the human bed with his people. Little Bit is a big fan of treats and takes his very inexpensive anxiety medicine without any fuss when it's hidden in a soft treat. He's still working on his separation anxiety, so he'd really love to find a family where someone is home most of the time. His previous owner was an older adult who was always with him, and he misses that constant companionship. He came into rescue through no fault of his own after his owner had health complications. Since then, he's been loving life! He enjoys sunbathing in a fenced yard, chasing bunnies, and is doing wonderfully with his potty training on a schedule. He's a smart cookie who's learned so much already. Little Bit lived with a cat before and did well. He also gets along with other dogs and wants to play, though he's still figuring out exactly how to interact. While he hasn't discovered the joy of toys yet, his foster family continues to introduce them. He finds fast-moving young children a bit scary, so older, calmer children would be best. He's been socializing by getting out and about town, letting strangers pet him without concern. He enjoys going to the office when his foster mom goes to work. He really just loves to be near his people all the time. Little Bit would thrive in a patient and consistent home where he can continue to build confidence and feel secure. A predictable routine and a calm environment will help him immensely with his anxiety and continued learning. Due to his separation anxiety, he needs to be placed in a home where someone is home a lot (retired, work from home, or someone who can take him to their work/office). He needs a home where he won't be crated more than occasionally. He is crated occasionally in his foster home when he has to be left alone but he is noisy and does not like it one bit. He's a bit anxious in the car but does ok in the crate in the car as long as the crate is angled where he can see you. He We also want to let you know that Little Bit has a heart murmur. At this time, it doesn't require any medication or special treatment, just routine monitoring during his regular veterinary check-ups. Vet believed he may have Horner's syndrome of his right eye. This does not cause him any issues. His vision is not impaired. He is now neutered and microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on preventatives, and had his dental done where he lost several teeth. His mouth now feels much better.
