Current Location: Fredrick, MD Meet Reef Reef is a 1-year-old, 27-pound boy with a gentle nature and a heart that’s just starting to shine. He’s a thoughtful soul who is quietly learning how much fun life can be. Energy and Personality Reef may come across as reserved at first, but he’s already showing glimpses of the playful dog he longs to become. He has a soft spark inside - yearning to join in, make friends, and discover joy as part of the pack. Training and Behavior He does well in his crate, though he really loves stretching out on a comfy dog bed with a chew toy nearby. Reef is making steady progress on the leash and appears to be housetrained. His calm, quiet presence makes him a peaceful companion in the home. Social Life Reef enjoys spending time in the yard where he can explore at his own pace. He’s learning that the world isn’t so big or scary and is beginning to relax into the fun of daily life. With patience and gentle encouragement, his confidence and playful side will continue to grow. Special Traits There’s something extra endearing about Reef - his soft, watchful eyes seem to dream of the fun-filled life ahead of him. He may be the quiet one now, but it’s clear he wants to be part of the laughter, the games, and the joy of a forever family. Best Home Fit Reef will thrive with adopters who appreciate his tender heart and are excited to help him grow. A calm and loving environment where he can take things step by step will allow him to blossom into the playful, happy companion he’s meant to be. Veterinary Care Neutered Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations Microchipped On heartworm preventative On flea and tick preventative Dewormed This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
