My story

Meet Dexter !! This sweet boy and his sister Dee Dee (posted separately) have such a unique look. They reminded us of something created in a laboratory hence their names. They are looking for SEPARATE homes. Dexter just turned 1 year old. He is a male, beagle mix. He weighs 24 pounds. He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of his adoption. He is heartworm negative and on preventatives. Dexter came to us needing to learn a lot but with a great personality. He is overall a sweet, loving and happy boy. He’s an active and fun boy. He did great with meeting all the dogs in his foster home. He’s with small and large dogs, senior and playful dogs. He does tend to be a bit much for some dogs. He’s energetic and still learning when another dog has had enough of him. He’s also a humper which many dogs won’t care for. His upcoming neuter will hopefully help with that. Dexter isn’t fostered with cats but his previous owner said he lived with them and did fine. He’s been wonderful with children. He loves anyone that will give him attention and play with him. He is working on potty training but isn’t perfect yet. He is crate trained and does good with car rides. He is leash trained but does some excited pulling at first. He overall just needs a bit more one on one attention and time to perfect all of his training. Dexter has not shown any aggression at all. He’s been fine sharing food, treats and toys with both humans and other dogs. This guy is a wide open, playful and adventurous boy. He’s always on the go. He loves to run, play, and get your attention. He definitely needs a family to keep him busy and give him both mental and physical exercise. Dexter would he a great adventure buddy for a fun family. A great size dog for going on adventures with. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA.
