Meet Story !! This poor girl has had a rough time. She was dropped off to us very sick (which we were not told about) she ended up having 16 bladder stones removed. We have no idea how long she had been suffering. Thankfully she’s recovering well and looking for a family that will love her and be as loyal to her as she will be to them. Story is a 5 year old schnauzer and currently weights 17 pounds. She is already spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is heartworm negative and on preventatives. She will need a special food to help prevent more bladder stones from developing in the future. This sweet girl is finally feeling better and starting to enjoy life. She’s a bit shy at first but once she realizes you’re safe she is extremely loving and fun. She’s a great mix of playful and relaxed. She is good with other dogs but would also be fine without another dog. We are unsure how she would do with cats. She does very well with kids to as long as they don’t treat her like a toy. She can be nervous around new people and will bark at people she doesn’t know. Story is doing great with crate training and sleeps in the crate overnight. She uses her crate as a safe space throughout the day. She rides okay in the car but is nervous about it. She does well on the leash. Since recovering from surgery she has done excellent with potty training. She’s had a medium energy level. Overall she’s very relaxed. She’s not really into playing but enjoys following her people around and going on walks or just cuddling up next to you. She loves getting treats and any attention. She loves to be outside sniffing around or just sitting and looking around. Story has no trouble sharing food, treats or toys with other dogs or humans. We don’t know what all this sweet girl has been through, but she is very cautious of strangers and takes a little time to warm up. Once she does, she becomes the most loyal and loving little girl you could ask ➡️She will need regular grooming. This requires time to get her to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt her. ➡️Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application.
