Ruby Roo is a sweet, friendly girl. She loves a good snuggle and is always ready to curl up with her person and take a nap. This red and white beauty loves her chew toys and is extremely food/treat motivated. She does use a slow feeder bowl because sometimes she gets a little too enthusiastic about her dinner! Ruby was rescued from a puppy mill where she and her canine companions endured living in a barn in all temperatures. This dear girl didn’t even have a name. Once in rescue she was named Ruby Roo by her foster home. Ruby’s exact age is not confirmed. We were told she was eight years old. However, she has the energy of a 2 to 3 yr old, but her teeth are that of a 5 to 6 year old. The vet estimates 6-8 years as the safest assumption based on the fact she appears to have had multiple litters in the past. (A veterinarian can estimate the number of litters a dog had by examining the uterus when a dog is spayed.) Ruby would do best with children 5 years and older. Ruby has lived with other dogs, but could do well as an only dog, as she can sometimes be territorial with other dogs over a person or food. She does not have issues with resource guarding where humans are concerned. Her foster family can take food and toys out of her mouth with no problem. Ruby is currently on Prednisone, as needed, for chronic bronchitis. She takes her meds with no problem, just put the pill right in with her dinner. Ruby is mostly potty trained, but can have accidents inside if not encouraged to go out in a timely manner. Ruby will sometimes let you know she has to go out if you are with her. She will take cues from other dogs and go potty when the other dogs signal to go out. The most challenging times are overnight or when she is left alone for longer than 4 hours. Ruby tolerates the crate for eating, but does NOT do well in the crate otherwise. She will cry for hours and would need a metal crate pan as she has been known to chew crate pans. She has not broken out of a crate, but if left for too long, she might. Ruby enjoys car rides and is well behaved in the car. She is equally well behaved for vet visits. As a matter of fact the vet said she was one of the best behaved Huskies they’ve seen! When her humans are not home, Ruby is loose in the house and for the most part is fine. However, she may steal tempting items if you leave them out. She has been known to counter surf, (after a lifetime in a barn, who wouldn’t want to check out the nicer things if life!). She does better when she has the other dogs with her. Ruby enjoys going for a walk, but needs a family that will continue her leash training. A sturdy well fitted harness is recommended. Ruby Roo is very excited to meet new people, she is extremely outgoing, friendly and spunky. She is an absolute precious cuddle bug! Ruby is incredibly affectionate just wants to love and be loved. Could you be the person to enjoy cuddles with Ruby? She is waiting for you!
