My story

Current Location: Lusby, MD Meet Cocoa Cocoa is a beautiful, sweet-natured girl who’s looking for a calm, loving home where she can lean into her best role: professional couch companion. She’s a little overweight, which only adds to her charm, and she’s happiest when she’s snuggled up right beside her person. Energy and Personality Cocoa is a true Velcro dog. She follows her people from room to room, wants to curl up in your lap if you’ll let her, and whines when she can’t get close enough. She’s gentle, affectionate, and happiest when she feels included in your daily life. She’s just starting to build confidence in going outside to potty on her own, but she’d still prefer you to be nearby if she can have her way. Training and Behavior Cocoa is perfectly house trained and trustworthy with full run of the house when left alone or overnight. She’s not reliably crate trained - crates make her anxious and whiny- so a home where she can continue her routine outside of the crate will make her most comfortable. She’s quiet by nature and hardly ever barks, though she may join in if another dog starts the chorus. She’ll need a little leash work since she can be a strong puller, and she hasn’t yet shown interest in toys or play. She’s much more of a cuddle-on-the-couch than a romp-in-the-yard kind of girl. Social Life Cocoa has been fine around her foster’s personal dog but doesn’t show much interest in play. With cats, she seems more likely to want to chase than befriend, so a cat-free home (or very careful introductions over time) will be best.
