My story

A volunteer writes:Kay and all of his housemates were brought to the Manhattan Care Center as the family's allergies took a turn for the worst. Kay is said to be a very friendly, affectionate, playful and talkative lap cat, very good with visitors and children. He would not be fond of other cats, though. Kay started as timid at the care center but he knows his friends and we always have a great time together. He used to be a bit handshy but not anymore and now enjoys all the petting that sends him head bunting my hand and purring. He absolutely loves to play with feather wands and catnip toys(see his video). Kay is FeLV+ which means that his defences against infections and other conditions are lower than a regular cat. The FeLV virus is only transmissible to other cats but not to other species. As a result, Kay(who anyway prefers to live as a solo cat) should be adopted as the only kitty in the house. FeLV+ cats are just as great pets  as non FeLV+ ones. They all need care and love. If you have it in you to adopt such a cat, come to the Manhattan Care Center, meet Kay, ask our adoption counselors about his health condition and hopefully take him home as your new beloved for ever best friend. What my friends at ACC say about me:I lived with children in my previous home. The staff think I would do best in a home where there are no other cats.Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. Primary Color: Gray Secondary Color: White Weight: 10.1 Age: 3yrs 0mths 2wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kay, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
