Meet Buffie — the dog who thinks “personal space” is just a myth, probably invented by cats so they could justify glaring at you from across the room, or by humans who just needed an excuse to scroll TikTok without a wet nose in their face. Either way, Buffie doesn’t buy it. To her, personal space is wasted space, and she’s here to fill every square inch of it with love. You give her attention? Great. You stop? Joke’s on you — she’s already repositioned herself closer, staring at you with the determination of someone trying to win a staring contest for rent money. Push her away? Congratulations, you’ve just reset the game. She’ll be back in 3…2…1… Buffie first landed with us back in December of 2024 after somehow ending up in the shelter (and honestly, how someone let a dog this gorgeous wind up there will forever remain one of life’s great mysteries). Naturally, she didn’t stay long; her beauty and charm had her scooped up quickly. But as time has passed, her family realized that between kids, busy schedules, and a full house of pets, Buffie deserves a home where she can be someone’s main event. At 16 months old and about 65 pounds, Buffie is a Great Pyrenees mix who blends all the fluff with all the love. She’s not looking for a side gig — she’s looking for her full-time position as your Velcro companion and your dog's favorite new sibling and playmate. Buffie gets along wonderfully with other dogs, though she does like to make sure she’s the one soaking up most of the love. She’ll play, run, and enjoy their company, but when it comes to cuddles, she has no shame in nudging her way to the front of the line. After all, why settle for some attention when you can have it all? She’s also great with cats, treating them more like quirky friends than anything else. She’s tried to play with the cats in her foster home, and while they may still be deciding if they’re flattered or annoyed, Buffie is convinced they’re all part of her crew. Kids are another group she enjoys. When she’s calm, she’s as gentle as can be — perfectly happy to let little ones fuss over her, pile on hugs, or even play dress-up. When she gets the zoomies, though, she may unintentionally knock them over in her excitement, but it’s always with that big goofy grin that makes it hard to be mad at her. Meeting new people? Buffie doesn’t know the meaning of “stranger.” She welcomes everyone as if they’ve been her best friend forever, tail wagging hard enough to count as a full-body workout. If you’re looking for a dog who will make everyone she meets feel special, Buffie’s your girl. Buffie is the kind of pup who knows how to balance her energy. She’s about a 6 out of 10 — playful enough to keep life fun, but not so wild that she’ll leave you gasping for air. Picture her as a happy companion who loves to burst into zoomies when the mood strikes, but also knows the value of curling up by your side and soaking in the quiet moments. On leash, Buffie does well, though she’s not built for long hikes or marathon runs. She’s more of a “let’s enjoy a nice stroll, sniff some things, and then head back for cuddles” kind of dog. She’s not looking to be your running buddy, but she’s absolutely ready to be your loyal walking companion. Her favorite adventure is simply being by her person’s side. Buffie loves people deeply, and her biggest joy in life is being close to them, whether that means leaning against you for pets, nudging your hand for more scratches, or quietly laying nearby just to be part of things. She’s affectionate, gentle, and happiest when she’s the center of someone’s world. Her personality is a delightful mix of gentle and goofy. When you’re petting her, she melts right into your hands, completely content to soak up the love. Then, out of nowhere, the zoomies kick in and she’s racing around with a sparkle in her eye, as if she’s inviting everyone to join in her joy. She might barrel past the couch like she’s chasing an invisible finish line, but she’s back at your side a moment later, tail wagging, ready for more cuddles. Buffie isn’t too interested in toys, but she does love a good bone and, above all else, your attention. She will happily remind you — again and again — that she’s there and ready for love. Even if you pause, she’ll circle back with her sweet persistence, asking gently for just a little bit more. Buffie would do well in a home with a yard for her zoomie bursts, but she’d also be happy with regular walks if she gets plenty of love and attention. At the end of the day, what Buffie really wants is simple: a person who will let her be close, shower her with affection, and appreciate the loyal, loving companion she’s ready to be. Yes, Buffie is potty trained — congratulations, you won’t need to invest in stock for paper towels. She also does perfectly fine in her kennel, though she’d much rather be glued to your side than hanging out in what she probably considers “the peasant quarters.” When it comes to barking, Buffie is refreshingly… normal. She’s not narrating every falling leaf or lecturing delivery drivers about trespassing. She’ll let out a bark or two if she’s bored outside or wants back in — basically the dog version of “Excuse me, I ordered service here ten minutes ago.” The rest of the time, she’s pretty quiet. She is still young, so a little puppy-proofing is wise. Translation: don’t leave your favorite shoes, remotes, or that one thing you “really meant to put away” lying around unless you’re ready to see it reinvented as modern art. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to be in your business, your lap, and your heart at all times, Buffie’s your girl. But fair warning: once she’s in your life, she’s not going to let you pretend “personal space” is real ever again. Now all that’s left is for you to stop scrolling, fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it over to her foster family, and then make your way to Yukon, OK to pick up your new shadow. Seriously — Buffie is waiting. And trust us, she’s not the type to wait patiently.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Buffie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
