My story

Meet Chupa! Chupa is a truly special boy--a petite Saint Bernard who weighs just 45 lbs, making him small for his breed, but overflowing with love. At around 3-4 years old, he&#39s fully grown and ready to find his forever family he deserves. Chupa is a sweetheart through and through. He adores giving kisses, loves kids, enjoys being around other dogs, and greets every person like a friend. Social and outgoing, he&#39s the kind of dog who brings joy everywhere he goes. Despite his affectionate personality, Chupa is also calm and laid-back, with a lower to medium energy level. He&#39s wonderful on the leash, loves his walks, and would do well in most homes--whether or not there&#39s a backyard. This beautiful boy is not only cuddly and fluffy, but also smart and eager to learn. He&#39ll happily curl up for snuggles but is just as excited to show off new tricks for his family. Chupa was rescued from the urgent list at Clayton County Shelter, where his life was at risk. We stepped in just in time, because a gentle soul like his deserves nothing less than love and safety. Chupa is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, house-trained, and crate-trained--he&#39s the full package. He&#39s ready to bring endless warmth, affection, and loyalty to the lucky family who opens their heart to him. Chupa has tested heartworm positive, but don&#39t worry--Barkville Dog Rescue will cover the full cost of his treatment. The treatment involves three injections given over the course of two months. During this time, Chupa will just need a calm environment and limited activity to help him heal safely. Heartworms are not contagious to other pets, so he can still enjoy their company while he recovers. We are looking for a loving foster (or foster-to-adopt family) to give Chupa a safe and quiet place while he goes through this treatment.
