My story

Current Location: Frederick, MD Meet Ellie Mae! Ellie Mae is a 3-year-old, 55-pound beauty with a black-and-white coat, a fabulous smile, and a lolling tongue that could win a medal for charm. She’s the kind of dog who can make you laugh just by looking at you with her goofy grin, then melt your heart two seconds later when she leans in for love. Energy and Personality At first, Ellie Mae wasn’t too sure about the strange noises and bright lights of indoor life. But with her foster’s patience and encouragement, she has blossomed into a happy, toy-loving, tail-wagging girl. She listens well, is eager to please, and is already showing she’s a quick learner. Leash walks are going nicely, and while she doesn’t know many commands yet, her willingness to try makes her a delight to work with. Grateful Heart Ellie Mae’s story is all about gratitude. From her freedom ride north to the kindness of her foster, she has embraced every step of this journey with joy. She knows she’s been given a second chance, and she shows it with endless affection. She’s a certified Velcro dog in training - wherever you are, she’d like to be too, preferably in your lap if you’ll let her.
